A Nor’Easter is expected to blow through Wareham and Onset starting Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service , a flood watch is currently in effect through 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and a high wind warning will be in effect until 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph are expected, with gusts up to 60 mph. Winds could blow down trees and power lines, causing widespread power outages. Travel may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Winds are expected to peak Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Up to 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected, which could cause flooding of roads, especially in low-lying areas. Flooding is expected to particularly impact the Tuesday evening commute.

“We are currently up staffing coverage for the next 36 hours in preparation for the incoming nor’easter due to arrive today,” wrote Onset Fire in a Facebook post. “We urge you to use caution both in and around the district and to avoid down tree limbs, consider all downed power lines to be live and avoid driving through large puddles of water.”
